student Login

scanner magicInstructor: Bevin Dunn

Your scanner is a great tool for scrapbooking.  The basics are easy: Scan, Print, and Scrap! You will take home lots of creative ideas for using your scanner with 3D objects, family documents, travel mementos and more. Use scans to preserve items, make them acid free or to make your own papers and elements to print and use in your layouts or projects.

We will also cover scanning photos, how to alter and correct photo exposures during scanning and graphic formats like jpg and tif.  Learn about technical topics like resolution, pixels, how to choose the best resolution to scan at, and how to review scanners before you buy them.

Have you always wondered how to scan a 12x12 layout with a smaller sized scanner for reprinting or uploading to galleries and contests?  A section of the class will be just about this topic and give you many different software options.

Extra Fun:

  • Make and Take a cute project using scanned materials for even more inspiration!
  • Bring one item to class that the instructor can scan during or after demonstrations, like a  photo, document (birth certificate or family letter), small 3D item or layout.  Finished scans can be put on your own flash drive / USB stick or emailed.
  • Bevin will provide a link to a special class webpage with all the information from the class, pictures of layouts shown, links to recourses and software and coupons!

With so many sample layouts and techniques, be prepared to spend all night at your scanner when you get home trying out your new ideas!

(To apply the techniques demonstrated in this class, at home you will need a computer, a scanner and a photo OR regular printer.  While scrapbooking samples using Photoshop software will be shown, you would not need a photo editing program to apply most the ideas from the class.  Exceptions would include the 12x12 layout scanning. )
